We support women, including trans women, and young people of all genders (aged 8 -18), who have experienced any form of sexual violence, abuse, or exploitation in their lives. We promote equality and raise public awareness of the routes of sexual violence and its damaging and life-changing effects. Dundee and Angus WRASAC are a specialist agency providing free and confidential support services to survivors who have been raped, sexually abused, or sexually exploited at any time in their life. Over the last 36 years we have grown our service from a small team working voluntarily in Dundee to a locally and nationally funded service.
What we offer-
• Women’s Support Service/Angus Outreach Service- The Women’s Support Service provides support to self-identifying women (over 18) who have experienced rape, sexual abuse and/or exploitation. Support can include 1:1 session in the centre or on outreach, advocacy support and signposting to other organisations for support.
• Advocacy Service- We are here to support you through the process of reporting to the police and attending court should you want or need to. If you are considering speaking to the police you can have a support worker from WRASAC present.
• Dundee & Angus Young Survivors (DAYS)- We support all young people, of any gender, aged between 8 and 18 who live in Dundee or Angus and have experienced sexual abuse of any kind. We offer confidential and professional 1:1 support from a key worker.
• Sexual Violence Prevention Service- At WRASAC Dundee & Angus we offer free interactive workshops for young people aged 11-25 where we go out and talk to young people about the kind of issues that are affecting them and discuss their understanding of sexual violence. Our workshops have been designed to allow young people to explore these issues in a safe, informative environment and are delivered as part of the Rape Crisis Scotland National Prevention Pack, which is delivered by local Rape Crisis centres in schools across Scotland.
• Vice Versa (Women involved in Commercial Sexual Exploitation)- Vice Versa Project provides practical and emotional support to adult women, including trans women, who have been involved, are currently involved or are at risk of being involved in Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSE). Sometimes other names are used for this such as – prostitution, escorting or sex work.
Our centre is staffed entirely by female workers and volunteers who are trained to a high standard and share the view that violence against women and children is an abuse of power and should not happen.
